Sri Rudram 1.7

This application serves as a resource for individuals committed to learning the chanting of Sri Rudram, including its segments Sri Rudra Namakam and Sri Rudra Chamakam.

Sri Rudram is regarded as a revered section of the Yajurveda, prominently featuring the sacred Sivapanchakshari mantra (NamaSivaya). It consists of two main portions: Namakam and Chamakam, each comprising 11 chapters, referred to as Anuvakams. Notably, most chapters in Namakam conclude with “namaha,” while those in Chamakam end with “chame.”

The practice of Rudra japam is widely believed to please all deities, and devotees hold the conviction that sincere prayers recited during this chanting will be fulfilled. Additionally, it is esteemed as a potent purifying force, serving as an effective means of atonement for even the gravest of sins. It is stated that, "By reciting Veda once, a person becomes pure for that day; however, by reciting Rudram, one achieves purification instantaneously." Another verse emphasizes that "Wherever a dedicated reciter of Rudram resides, that environment is permeated with wellness, free from diseases, droughts, theft, and various other adversities."
